Quality Over Quantity

The owners of J&J Custom Design started this business for two reasons:

  1. We have a passion for creativity and design through the use of fabrics.
  2. Ability to give something back to the community.  Working with fabric and sewing machines – a hand crafted art is disappearing in this country.  We have developed a program that will work with ‘at risk’ teens and teach them a skill.  Helping to learn a trade that they can use to make a living or start a business of their own.  We work with industry suppliers to help with job placement and other career related opportunities.

While working in the upholstery business has not been our primary career, it is now the “next act” that we are focused on.  Jo Ann has a background in non-profit accounting.  She has been actively running a sewing machine since childhood, learning at her mother’s knee.  She is experienced in upholstery, quilt making, children’s clothing, window treatment, and custom pillows.  John has been in the IT industry for as many years as an IT Director and business development manager.  He has been around boats for most of his life and had previously owned a marine electronics business where he worked on boats every day.   Together they bring their experience to turn out a hand-crafted quality product that both J&J and their clients can be proud of.  Working with our clients vision is very personal and, through custom fabrication, is a reflection of our client’s inspiration and our ability to make that into reality.
